Case Study
This case study focuses on the California wildfires that struck the San Diego region in October 2007, killing fourteen people and destroying more than 1,500 homes and businesses. The fires that struck San Diego County as well as areas north of the Mexican border toward San Diego cost $14,964,898.08 to date. The following year, wildfires struck the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Santa Barbara, and Riverside to the tune of more than $3 billion.
In spite of disaster relief, many businesses and homeowners have yet to be fully compensated for their losses when everything they owned went up in flames. California may, indeed, be one of the nation’s most beautiful places, but it pays a terrible cost in terms of natural disasters like wildfires, earthquakes, mudslides, and even tsunamis. Without accurate proof of assets and belongings, businesses and homeowners may be unable to prove the extent of their losses to their insurance providers.
VIS provides Californians with verifiable proof of their belongings in the event of a catastrophe. Because we are a third party vendor, both customers and insurers work with us for an accurate inventory of personal and business assets.
